ADAPT EDGE 2012
(Post-Tensioning)

Edge automatically accounts for the composite interaction of all vertical and horizontal elements including differential shortening and secondary effects of post-tensioning, if present. Edge offers a truly integrated approach to the modeling, analysis and design of concrete structures. We invite you to take the challenge and experience for yourself how Edge can speed up your concrete building design process.
Applications
• Any single or multilevel concrete structure
• Simple or very complex geometries
• Quick stability analysis of mid-rise buildings
• Load takedown for transfer elements or mat foundations
• Calculation of differential settlement for tall buildings
• Determine impact of post-tensioning or prestressing on all members of a building
• Accurate combination of lateral loads in slab and mat design
• Analyze effect of complex slab systems on lateral stability of buildings
• Vibration analysis of concrete buildings
Top Reasons to Use Edge
• Speed - very easy and fast modeling of concrete buildings
• Post-Tensioning - models post-tensioning in buiding models
• Ease of Use - no fuss, but accurate automated 3D finite element meshing and analysis
• Integration - building stability analysis, detailed floor and foundation design in one integrated
model
• Accuracy - floor system's bending response accurately tied into overall building solution
• BIM - industry leading integration with Revit Structure

Features
Structural Modeling
• Generates a true 3D solid physical model of an entire floor system or complete concrete
building
• No simplification of geometry or manual creation of analytic model required
• Uses smart components to assemble an entire floor system: slab regions, walls,
beams, columns, drop caps, drop panels, rebar, tendons and openings
• Models steps above and below the slab as well as any type of slab depression
• Streamline modeling process by importing DWG/DXF files and intelligently converting to
structural components
• One-click switches between single- and multi-level modeling modes
• Coordinated multi-level modeling saves time and reduces errors
• Ability to copy levels up or down to speed up modeling
• Flexible definition of component releases and boundary conditions
• Handles complex models withe ease and accuracy
• Models can be supported on columns, walls, point supports, line supports, or any
configuration of springs (point, line or area representing soil)
• View and examine 3D rendered solid model to verify the accuracy of the structure's
representation
Loads
• Apply gravity or lateral loads of any configuration, anywhere on the model
• Wind load wizard
• A practical utility that allows users to quickly calculate and apply wind loads to
the structure. Uses code specified formulas or user defined wind pressure profile.
Wizard automatically calculates structure's exposure surface and applies loads
at windward and leeward faces of structure.
• ASCE 7-10
• IS 875 (Part III)
• Seismic load wizard is being released December 2012
• Building level internal reactions are available for single-level re-analysis
Post-Tensioning and Prestressing
• Uses integrated tendon modeling as opposed to "balanced loading". This overcomes
many of the approximations and shortcomings inherent in the conventional modeling
of post-tensioning. Ask ADAPT to email you a technical note on its modeling approach
[Aalami, Bijan, O "Structural Modeling of Post-Tensioned Members." American
Society of Civil Engineers, Structural Journal, February 2000, pp. 157-162]
• Model bonded or unbonded tendons
• Design using effective force or specify stressing ends and friction loss parameters
• Calculates prestressing force in members as well as secondary restraining effects
(hyperstatic moments) due to prestressing
• Tendon generation wizards for banded and distributed tendons
• Automatically or manually model and dynamically edit tendons in plan or elevation
• Tendon curvature check against a minimum radius of curvature
• Automated tendon clash detection
• Program calculates and graphically shows force along tendon
Analysis Capabilities
• Industry leading automated 3D finite element meshing algorithm
• Option to mesh and analyze complete model or any individual level
• Performs a detailed finite element analysis of the entire floor systems and its supporting
structure using shell and frame elements
• Unlike other general analysis programs in the market that analyze all horizontal
components at the same node level, Edge properly maintains the different offsets of
steps in slabs and/or beams with respect to the slab they are framed into - this results
in more realistic analysis and deflection results
• Smart components automatically establish required FEM connectivity, eliminating
need for manual fine-tuning of analysis model
• Carries out integrated modal vibration analysis on complete model or any user-defined
sub-region
Design and Automatic Code Checks
• Member design forces for columns and walls reported graphically and concise
tabular reports
• Automatic drift check
• Define arbitrary manual design sections across horizontal components - software
calculates actions, required rebar and moment capacity
• When used with Floor Pro or MAT, automatically combines gravity analysis results
carried out at slab level with lateral load solution obtained at building level
Output and Reports
• Detailed quantity takeoff report
• Generates both professional and ready-to-submit graphical and tabular reports
Licensing Options
• Edge can be used as a stand-alone solution or or together with Floor Pro and MAT
• Multi-user network or stand-alone versions
• Download with soft license or flexible USB dongle
